Link Your Goals

It is true that your job description is your primary “bible”, but I do not want you to stop there. Instead, you need to be a true HIPO and answer the following questions:

  • What is the main issue the company is trying to solve?
  • What are the problems no one has ever found a solution to?
  • What employee is going to be fired soon?
  • To what extent you can fill his position?
  • What are your boss’s main concerns?
  • Can you do the job for him?
  • Can he rely on you to replace him in what he has no time or mood to do?

When does he need to be replaced by someone?

Other questions might raise where you work, but if you are ready to be there when your boss needs you, either permanently or temporarily, YOU will become the person your boss can never get free from.

Whenever he needs help (related to the job of course), he will contact you, because he is sure no one else will do the job.

When he contacts you for a help which is not related to the job at all, it is your opportunity to help him as he helped you by offering you the job you have been in.
